I’m Finally Starting to Take Care of My Skin — A Simple Routine

For a long time, “taking care of my skin” meant washing my face and moving on with my day.

I don’t really wear makeup.
I don’t have a complicated routine.
And honestly, skincare just wasn’t something I spent much time thinking about.

But recently, I started noticing small things. My skin felt tighter. Lines were more obvious. My face just looked… tired. Not in a dramatic way — just enough to make me pause in the mirror and think, maybe it’s time.

Instead of asking “What’s the best skincare?” I asked a much better question: What would feel supportive instead of overwhelming?

The answer turned out to be… the basics.

What “Taking Care of My Skin” Looks Like Right Now

This is not a glow-up story. It’s a comfort story.

Close-up of skincare products including CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, a large moisturizing cream tub, and Good Molecules boxed products arranged together on a shelf.

1. Gentle cleansing (once a day)

At night, I use CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser.
In the morning, I just rinse with water. Over-cleansing was making my skin feel drier than I realized.

2. Hydrating on purpose

After cleansing (or rinsing), while my skin is still slightly damp, I apply:

Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum
This step alone made my skin feel less tight. The key is applying it on damp skin and not letting it dry on its own.

3. Moisturizing like I mean it

Right after the serum, I use:

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream (yes, the big tub)
It’s not fancy, but it’s comforting — and that’s what my skin needed. This is the step that really made everything feel better.

4. A little extra care for my eyes (optional)

In the mornings, I sometimes use Good Molecules Yerba Mate Wake Up Eye Gel.
It helps a bit with puffiness, but it’s not a miracle product — just a nice addition.

My EXACT Simple Skincare Routine

🌤 Morning (2–3 minutes)

  1. Splash face with water (no cleanser)
  2. Hyaluronic Acid Serum
    • 1 pump
    • On damp skin
  3. Yerba Mate Eye Gel
    • Rice-grain amount per eye
    • Light tap, don’t rub
  4. CeraVe Moisturizing Cream
    • Thin layer

👉 If you add sunscreen later, it goes after moisturizer

🌙 Night

  1. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
  2. Hyaluronic Acid Serum (damp skin)
  3. CeraVe Moisturizing Cream
    • Slightly thicker layer at night

That’s it. No extras. No actives. No chaos.

What I’m Not Doing (And Why)

I’m not:

  • using retinol (yet)
  • exfoliating aggressively
  • scrubbing my face
  • chasing “anti-aging” labels

Right now, my goal isn’t transformation.
It’s consistency and skincare for real skin.

I want my skin to feel calm, comfortable, and supported — not like another project.

What Changed When I Started Paying Attention

After a couple of weeks, I noticed:

  • my skin feels less tight
  • fine lines look softer, not as harsh
  • my face looks more rested, even without makeup

Nothing dramatic. Just better. And honestly, that feels like enough.

The Takeaway

Taking care of your skin doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive.
It doesn’t have to be about looking younger.
And it definitely doesn’t have to be perfect.

Sometimes it’s just about starting.

Starting gently.
Starting simply.
Starting with the basics.
