Soft-Launching My One-Person Ad Agency Experiment

This is the story of how I soft-launched a one-person ad agency (on purpose) to test the waters of Pinterest marketing, design strategy, and affiliate content.

But let’s rewind. It all started with a few Canva templates.

Then a color palette.

A few days later, nine product-style Pins.

Before I knew it, I was running a tiny, chaotic, unprofitable ad agency…

📋 The Creative Brief (written by me, for me)

Client: Me
Creative Direction: Clean, fun, not too serious
Target Audience: People who scroll Pinterest and whisper “I could design that”
Campaign Budget: 0 dollars
Deliverables: 9 Pins, a blog post, and a sprinkle of self-awareness

🧪 The Ad Set

So, what did this fake campaign actually look like? Here’s a peek:

Each Pin is its own design test — layout, type, color, and vibe. Here’s what I was trying:

Pin Concepts

💇 Curly Hair Must-Haves
Rich background, bold pink text, cozy product close-ups

🥒 Green Detox Juice
Calm green color palette, clear instructions, soft gradients

🍳 Kitchen Tools
Bright and noisy — intentionally cluttered like a haul post

🩺 FSA/HSA Tech
Functional, semi-corporate feel with visual hierarchy

🍫 Mudslide Recipe
Elevated minimalism — cocktail bar energy

🧼 Power Washing
Dirty vs clean visual contrast + action shot

🛏️ Bedroom Must-Haves
Pinterest-core grid layout in neutral tones

☕ Espresso Setup
Clean lifestyle aesthetic, small coffee station dream

🐶 Gizmo’s Favorites
Brand mascot moment — pet joy meets chaos product curation

🎨 What I’m Actually Doing

Jokes aside, this is the start of something. I’m teaching myself:

• How to design visually strong Pins
• How affiliate marketing actually works
• What makes people click, scroll, or bounce
• How to mix curation with storytelling

I’m not selling templates (yet) or claiming expertise. Just a girl designing, learning, and sharing in public — like a little agency with one overachieving intern (also me).

👀 What’s Next for Redcypress Designs™

With one soft launch behind me, here’s what I’m planning next:

• More Pin design experiments
• Deeper dives into color, typography, and layouts
• Blog posts explaining design decisions
• Affiliate content with transparency and ✨vibes✨
• Probably a dashboard… because I love a dashboard

This post marks the soft launch of my creative experiment:

👉 Make things
👉 Test them
👉 Learn out loud
👉 And maybe get a Pinterest click or two in the process

More soon.
Your Creative Director,
Me
