Can You Buy an LED Face Mask With Your FSA or HSA?
If you have been eyeing an LED face mask and also happen to have money sitting in an FSA or HSA, you may be wondering whether the two can work together.
The short answer is: some LED light therapy devices can be FSA- or HSA-eligible, but not every LED face mask automatically qualifies.
That distinction matters, especially on Amazon, where eligibility is attached to the specific product rather than the entire category. Amazon says eligible products are identified at the individual ASIN level, so two very similar-looking LED masks may not have the same eligibility status.

Are LED Face Masks FSA or HSA Eligible?
Light therapy can qualify as an eligible medical expense, and FSA Store currently lists light therapy as eligible for reimbursement through FSAs and HSAs.
There are also LED face masks currently sold specifically as FSA- and HSA-eligible devices. For example, the Caring Mill Acne Calming Light Therapy Flex Mask is currently marked eligible by both FSA Store and HSA Store.
That does not mean every red light or LED skincare mask qualifies, though.
Why Some LED Masks Qualify and Others Do Not
The easiest way to think about it is that eligibility depends on the specific device and its intended medical use, not simply the fact that it contains red or blue LED lights.
Several currently eligible LED devices are marketed for concerns such as acne treatment and are described as medical devices. For example, FSA Store lists FDA-cleared LED acne-treatment devices among its eligible light-therapy products.
A beauty mask sold primarily for general cosmetic use may be treated differently.
So this is one of those situations where I would never buy a mask first and simply assume I could reimburse myself later.

How to Check Whether an LED Face Mask Is FSA/HSA Eligible on Amazon
Not every LED face mask is automatically FSA- or HSA-eligible, so I always check the exact Amazon listing before buying.
Amazon may show the “FSA or HSA eligible” label in the search results, on the product page, in your cart, or during checkout. I also check the exact model or variation I am buying rather than assuming a similar mask qualifies.
I put together a complete step-by-step guide showing where I find the eligibility information in the Amazon app and on desktop, plus how I double-check the eligible amount at checkout.

Can You Pay for an LED Mask With Your FSA/HSA Card on Amazon?
If the specific LED mask is marked eligible, Amazon allows shoppers to add an FSA or HSA card and use it toward qualifying healthcare products.
If your card is already saved and the purchase still will not go through, the first thing I would check is whether the exact mask you selected is marked eligible.

What Should You Look for in an FSA-Eligible LED Mask?
Eligibility would not be my only consideration.
I would also look at:
What type of light it uses.
Different devices use red, blue, or combinations of wavelengths depending on what they are designed to address.
What the device is intended to treat.
A device intended for acne treatment may have a clearer medical-use case than a mask marketed only around general beauty or “glow.”
How comfortable it is.
If you hate wearing it, it does not matter how impressive the specifications are.
Treatment time.
Some devices are much easier to realistically work into a skincare routine than others.
The manufacturer’s instructions.
More is not necessarily better with LED therapy. Follow the directions for that particular device.
I Already Own an LED Face Mask. Here Is How I Use Mine
Once you actually buy one, there is a second question:
What do you do with it? 😂
I put together a complete beginner guide showing how I use my LED face mask at home, including the different light settings, how long I use it, what I put on my skin, and the mistakes I would avoid.

Other FSA/HSA Beauty and Wellness Devices
An LED mask is also only one way to use FSA or HSA funds on a larger wellness purchase.
I have a separate roundup of beauty and wellness devices that may be worth looking at if you are trying to use your benefits on something you will actually use.
Not every FSA-eligible beauty device is worth the money. This guide shares beauty and wellness tools that can become part of your everyday routine—from LED face masks and facial massagers to relaxing heat therapy devices.
The Bottom Line
Yes, some LED face masks can be purchased with FSA or HSA funds.
The important word is some.
Do not assume that every LED mask, red light mask, or beauty device qualifies just because another one does. Check the exact product’s eligibility before purchasing, especially when shopping on Amazon.
If you find an eligible mask that you genuinely want to use, though, this can be one of the more interesting ways to spend FSA or HSA funds on something that fits into your regular skincare routine.
