How I Create Affiliate Content With Just My iPhone (My Very Low-Tech Setup)

I don’t have a studio.
I don’t have a dedicated filming room.
I don’t even have a consistent filming spot.

What I do have is my iPhone, a ring light I sometimes remember to plug in, and a small folding tripod that lives wherever I last dropped it.

And honestly? It’s been more than enough.

Most of my affiliate pins, blog photos, and Amazon product clips are created with this exact setup.

What I Actually Use

📱 My iPhone (That’s It. That’s the Camera.)

I use my iPhone for:

• Product photos
• Blog images

• Short-form clips

It’s already in my hand. It adjusts quickly. And it shoots in quality that is more than enough for social media and blog content.

A few simple things I do:

• I shoot near a window whenever possible.
• I turn off overhead lights to avoid weird color casts.
• I tap to adjust exposure before taking the photo.
• I take multiple angles even if I think I “got it.”

Years of doing stock photography taught me something important:

Light matters more than gear.

You can have an expensive camera and bad lighting and still end up with a flat image. Natural light near a window will almost always win.

💡 My Ring Light (When the Sun Is Not Cooperating)

I don’t use my ring light all the time.

Mostly I use it:

• When filming at night
• When the weather is gloomy
• When I need consistent lighting for video

I keep the brightness lower than I think I need. Too bright and everything starts looking like an interrogation scene.

Natural light is still my first choice. The ring light is just backup — not the star.

This thing is not glamorous.

It:

• Holds my phone steady
• Helps with overhead food shots
• Makes hands-free filming possible
• Prevents shaky product clips

It’s small. It’s simple. It works.

And stability makes a bigger difference than people realize. A steady shot immediately looks more intentional.

How I Turn This Into Affiliate Pins

My process is simple:

1. Photograph or film the product with my phone.
2. Edit or design inside the Canva app.
3. Generate my affiliate link inside Amazon Associates.
4. Add the link to Pinterest or my blog (with proper disclosure).

That’s it.

No desktop editing suite.
No complicated lighting setup.
No production team.

Just phone → Canva → affiliate link → publish.
